Last night I bought a bunch of stuff at an Asian grocery store. Now that I take a look at it, I am not sure what to try. I bought okra, oyster mushrooms, baby bok choy, pork sirloin (it looks like chunks of stew meat), green onion, cilantro, and peeled garlic cloves. I hve a well stocked kitchen and more spices than I I have seen at anyone else’s house.
I guess my main question is how is okra used in asian cuisine?
Thanks!!

check out this link below. It has a meal maker. You type in the ingredients of 4 items of food that you have and it comes up with all the recipes that you could make. It is really good.

Okra is used in several Indian curries that I like to make at home. Fry your spices on low-med heat (I used ground coriander, garlic cloves, a touch of ground cumin and cardamom pods) for about 3 minutes or until your kitchen smells heavenly; toss in a cup of chopped onion, fry for 3-4 minutes, toss in okra and 2 chopped up tomatoes (or a 15 oz can of diced tomatoes), cook for 5-8 minutes more (depending on taste) and stir in 1/2 cup lowfat yogurt. Serve with your favorite white or brown rice … amazing.

Throw it all into a wok and stir fry it, minus the cilantro which doesn’t seem to fit. Yeah dice it up stir-fry it with some sesame oil and drizzle it with some hoi-sin sauce serve over rice. Of course inevitably, you’ll just be hungry again in an hour. Sorry I had to throw that in there.
